This is follow–up information regarding the robbery which occurred on Friday December 14th, at Breadeaux Pizza, 105 South Jefferson Street. According to charging documents, on December 15th the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office charged the defendant, James J. Deiters, age 41 of Breese, Illinois, with the following:
Count 1: Armed Robbery/Armed with Firearm: in that the defendant, while armed with a firearm, a Ruger .45 caliber pistol, knowingly took property, being cash U.S. currency, from the presence of the victim, by threatening the imminent use of force. A Class X Criminal Felony, Category A Offense.
Count 2: Possession Stolen Title/Certificate/Plate: in that the defendant, without authority, knowingly possessed a stolen license plate. A Class 2 Criminal Felony, Category A Offense.
Count 3: Resist Peace Officer: in that the said defendant, knowingly resisted the performance of the Officer of an authorized act within his official capacity, being the arrest of the defendant, knowing the Officer to be a peace officer engaged in the execution of his official duties, in that he refused to show his hands and be handcuffed. A Class A Misdemeanor, Category B Offense.
His bond was set at $150,000, and he is currently being held at the St. Clair County Jail.
The Millstadt Police Department would like to thank the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department, and all other law enforcement agencies, which assisted in the apprehension of the defendant. We thank the tele-communicators at St. Clair County CENCOM, who quickly dispatched the call and assisted in the transmission of the description of the suspect vehicle to surrounding agencies. We would also like to thank the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office in their assistance with the charging of the defendant.
