On Saturday, December 15th residents of Moraga Country Club (MCC) will participate in a full-scale evacuation exercise. The Moraga-Orinda Fire District, Moraga Police Department, Orinda Police Department, MCC Staff and Lamorinda CERT are coordinating the drill.

Moraga has already been divided into 23 separate evacuation zones. This exercise is designed to test our ability to manage a large-scale evacuation from one of these zones. The exercise involves notifying MCC residents using the Contra Costa County Community Warning System and sending two lanes of traffic toward Orinda on Moraga Way from St. Andrews Drive to Glorietta Blvd.

All vehicular traffic on Moraga Way from St. Andrews Drive to Glorietta Blvd. will only be allowed to join the evacuation procession by turning toward Orinda. Traffic will not be allowed to drive toward Moraga from any streets or driveways inside the exercise route from approximately 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM.

After the exercises, first responders will conduct a de-briefing and participants will be asked to complete a survey so that the police and fire departments and community members are able to learn from the exercise and improve our ability to safely evacuate people from Town, should the need arise. We realize that this may inconvenience some residents and thank you in advance for your patience and understanding. This is an incredible learning experience for our first responders and community members and will help in keeping our Town safe.
