Arrest Made in Narcotics Sales Case

Prescription Drug Use on Folsom Campuses Leads Detectives to Arrest

As many as two students a week, on average, are found to be under the influence of prescription medications at Folsom’s three high school campuses, according to Folsom Police School Resource Officers (SROs). The information recently sparked a joint investigation with the SROs and the department’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU), into the distribution of prescription medications, cocaine, and marijuana.  The investigation revealed 20-year-old, Poyan Golparast of Folsom, was distributing controlled substances to individuals within the City, including minors
.
“We are seeing an uptick in controlled substance related cases including cocaine, methamphetamine, and molly being stored in clear, unmarked capsules in an attempt to disguise them as vitamins or other substances,” SIU Detective Scott Somersett said.

On 12/06/2018, SIU Detectives executed a search warrant in the 1200 block of Creekside Drive and located a significant amount of Xanax, oxycodone, cocaine, pure MDMA (molly), and marijuana. Detectives also located cash, simulated firearms, scales and sales packaging.  Golparast was booked into the Sacramento County Jail for several narcotic related sales charges.

Folsom PD Detectives would like to remind you of the dangers associated with prescription medications.  “Xanax, oxycodone, Percocet, Suboxone, methadone, Norco, and Vicodin are commonly abused prescription medications,” Detective Somersett said.  Please be diligent with the storage and use of prescription medications as their abuse can result in significant issues, up to and including death.

Unused and unwanted medications can be disposed of in the green collection bin in the lobby of the Folsom Police Department, 46 Natoma Street (open weekdays, 7 a.m. - 4 p.m., excluding holidays).
