Advisory

Winter Storm Warning until 02:00PM Monday

Although the widespread, heavy precipitation has largely ended across the area, additional wintry precipitation will likely redevelop from the northwest overnight. Many locations will see additional snow showers and occasional sleet, while other locations could see brief freezing rain or pockets of freezing temperatures that keep roads treacherous. Conditions will slowly dry out from the west on Monday afternoon.

* WHAT...Mixed precipitation. Additional light snow and sleet overnight, combined with freezing temperatures lingering in some locations, will allow conditions to remain treacherous across the area. Total snow and sleet accumulations up to an inch are likely around the Charlotte area early Monday. Winds may gust above 20 mph at times.

* WHERE...Northern portions of Upstate South Carolina and the southern foothills and Piedmont of western North Carolina.

* WHEN...Until 2 PM EST Monday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the recent ice and snow. The combination of ice and winds gusting as high as 25 mph could result in widespread power outages. Travel will be very difficult. The hazardous conditions may impact the morning commute on Monday.

* AFFECTED AREAS: CABARRUS ... CHEROKEE ... MECKLENBURG ... CLEVELAND ... SPARTANBURG ... LINCOLN ... GREATER GREENVILLE ... ROWAN ... GREATER RUTHERFORD ... EASTERN POLK ... GASTON ... GREATER PICKENS
