WINTER STORM WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 PM EST MONDAY...
* WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation. Lingering light snow, sleet,
and freezing rain will transition back to snow showers and sleet
overnight. An additional 2 to 4 inches of snow and sleet will
be possible overnight in the mountains, with an inch or less
across the foothills. Up to a tenth of an inch of ice from
freezing rain is possible early. Winds may gust to 20 to 30 mph
at times.
* WHERE...The northern mountains and foothills, and the northwest
Piedmont, of western North Carolina.
* WHEN...Until 2 PM EST Monday.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Heavy wet snow showers, sleet, and light
icing, along with gusty winds, will result in numerous
additional power outages. Travel could remain nearly impossible.
The hazardous conditions will continue to impact the morning
commute on Monday.
