Battery on an Officer Arrest

At 5:51 PM, Officers responded to a radio call of a subject trespassing and harassing customers at Sprouts (2800 E. Cochran St). a Simi Valley resident, Grant Blanchette (34yrs) was identified as the offender.

The first officer on scene located Grant Blanchette to the front of Cronies Bar and Grill. Blanchette is a repeat offender and on Parole for Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The officer attempted to pat him down and Blanchette pulled his hands away and pushed the officer against a glass window. A fight ensued and both went to the ground. While struggling on the ground, Blanchette attempted to remove the officers taser from his holster. Several patrons from Cronies exited the bar and assisted the officer in taking the suspect into custody.

The officer received no injuries.

Blanchette was medically cleared at Simi Hospital and booked at Ventura County Jail for a Parole Violation, Battery on a Police Officer, attempting to remove a taser from a Police Officer, resisting arrest and disturbing a business.

The Simi Valley Police Department would like to thank all of the bystanders who came to the aid of our officer and assisted in arresting this dangerous subject.
