Advisory

Police activity on Magnolia Avenue at Ward Street in Larkspur, CA.

At approximately, 10:00 am, a Central Marin Police Officer was on routine patrol in the area of Tamalpais Drive and Redwood Avenue in Corte Madera when he observed a traffic violation. The officer attempted to conduct an enforcement stop for the observed violation. The driver of the vehicle began driving erratically in what appeared to be an attempt to evade the officer and then failed to yield for the officer. The vehicle entered the rear parking lot of the Corte Madera Recreation Center and the vehicle looped around the center island coming to a stop with the vehicle facing the egress of the parking lot. The officer noticed that the vehicle was possibly still in gear and not in park with the brake lights still activated. As the officer approached the vehicle, the driver fled from the officer, driving out of the parking lot and toward Tamaplais Avenue. The vehicle continued driving away towards downtown Larkspur. The officer followed the vehicle with its emergency equipment activated and the vehicle eventually stopped at the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and Ward Street in Larkspur. Once the vehicle stopped, a high risk vehicle stop was conducted based on the erratic driving and fear for public safety. The driver of vehicle refused to comply with the officer's orders to exit the vehicle with his hands visible. After several attempts, the officers on scene were eventually forced to break out the driver’s window and remove the driver who was subsequently arrested.

Upon a search of the vehicle, a realistic looking BB gun was located underneath the front passenger seat and a hook style bladed knife was located at his feet. A records check of the driver, Anthony Greene from Santa Rosa, revealed he was on active Sonoma County Adult Probation and had outstanding warrants for his arrest. Greene was booked into the Marin County Jail on the outstanding arrest warrants, obstruction of justice, felony evasion of a peace officer, and providing a false name to a peace officer. There is no further threat to the community and the investigation is ongoing.
