Jermaine Johnson had already been sentenced out of DeKalb County for drug charges.  Johnson was given a 10 year only to do 5 years sentence and was to report to jail on November 30, 2018.  The caveat to Johnson’s sentencing was that if he did not report to jail, his sentence would be modified to 100 years to serve. November 30th came and Johnson did not turn himself.   Instead Johnson decided to run and sell more drugs.

Johnson then made things worse for himself when he decided to sell drugs in Clayton County.    On 10/01/2018 the Sheriff’s Elite Cobra Unit conducted a joint investigation with the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office and obtained additional arrest warrants for Jermaine Johnson for violation of Conspiracy to Distribute Drugs.

At this point, Sheriff Victor Hill’s Elite Fugitive Squad began a manhunt for Johnson that ended today.   The Cobra Unit, The Fugitive Squad, the GBI, and the Henry County Sheriff’s Office went to a location in Hampton in an attempt to locate Johnson yesterday.  Johnson was not located at this residence, but illegal narcotics were observed in plain view and a new investigation began.  

The Cobra Unit and Fugitive Squad spotted Johnson at the Walmart in McDonough earlier today and Johnson began to run.  He quickly discovered that was not a good idea and surrendered. 

Johnson at some point will be turned over to the State to serve his 100 year sentence for deciding to become a fugitive on the run while still dealing drugs.  But for now, he is currently facing the wall at Georgia’s toughest para-military jail now better known to all as the “Hill-ton”.
