Homicide investigators have made a second arrest in the capital murder of a Marine Corp Vet during a home invasion in the Cypress Creek Lakes subdivision on November, 29, 2018.

Investigators overnight arrested 19-year-old Dwayne Ernest Wharton without incident from a residence in the 13800 block of Ella in north Harris County.

Wharton and Bobby J Turner forced their way into the home of Leandro Morales Jr. and demanding money from the 47-year-old.

Morales was shot and killed after he struggled briefly with Wharton.

Both men then fled from the home.

A collaborative effort between HCSO Homicide Unit, Crime Scene Unit, Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force and Violent Crimes Unit Investigators led to the arrest of Turner 48 hours after the incident.

Homicide Investigators say that information obtained after the arrest of suspect Bobby Joe Turner, revealed electronic data and physical evidence linking Wharton to the capital murder.

Wharton implicated himself and Turner to investigators while being interviewed about this incident.

The black Ford Fusion that was the center of the search for the murder suspects was also located and removed for processing.

Both men are currently held in the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility under a no bond.
