North Brunswick Police Dept. has an important message for the community!
We have experienced an increase in reported package thefts, as we often do at this time of year. The following tips can help prevent you from becoming another victim:
1) Do not leave mail or packages unattended.
2)If you are going out of town, put a "hold" at your local Post Office. www.usps.com
3)Ship packages using "Hold for Pickup options" customers can redirect incoming packages to their local post office, or an alternate delivery address where someone is home.
4)Customize the delivery. Many delivery companies allow delivery instructions which authorize the carriers to leave a package in a specific location.
5) For expensive items use signature confirmation options to ensure the package is left with a resident.
6) Be the eyes and ears of the police department. No one knows your neighborhood the way you do! If you see something suspicious call police immediately.
