Deputies arrest Christopher Rogel for assault with a deadly weapon

LOCATION: 1300 block Beryl Avenue, Mentone
SUSPECT(S): Christopher Rogel, 33-year-old resident of Mentone
VICTIM(S): 50-year-old female resident of Mentone
SUMMARY: Deputies responded to an assault in progress at the 1300 block of Beryl Avenue in Mentone. Rogel assaulted the victim, a family member, with a knife and she attempted to barricade herself in her bedroom. The victim sustained a minor stab wound during the assault. When deputies arrived, Rogel charged at them and deputies deployed a single less-lethal bean bag projectile to stop his advance. The less lethal projectile immediately disabled Rogel and he was taken into custody without further incident. Rogel was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries and was later arrested and booked at West Valley Detention Center.
