BB Gun vehicle damage suspects are in HWDPS custody.

On Monday November 19, 2018 several suspects in a silver Ford Taurus drove around the streets of Harper Woods shooting numerous windows out of vehicles parked in driveways or on the street in the southwest area of the city. It was determined that BB guns were used to cause the damage. In total, 23 vehicles and 1 front door to a residence was damaged. Harper Woods detectives were able to determine through their investigation that the BB guns used by the suspects were stolen from a local Meijer store.

On Monday November 26, 2018, Harper Woods detectives were conducting surveillance in the City of Detroit and located the silver Ford Taurus used in these crimes. Harper Woods detectives stopped the Taurus and arrested the two occupants.

Detectives placed a 16 year old juvenile, who resides in Detroit, into the Wayne County Juvenile Detention facility. On Tuesday November 27, 2018 the juvenile was formally charged with the following:

Count 1-malicious destruction of personal property $1,000 or more but less than $20,000, 5 year felony.
Count 2-weapons-felony firearm-pneumatic gun, 2 year felony.
Count 3-weapons-firearms-possession of a loaded firearm in or upon a vehicle, 2 year high misdemeanor.
Count 4-malicious destruction of building less than $200.00, 93 day misdemeanor.

The juvenile was given a $10,000.00 cash/surety bond.

On Thursday November 29, 2018, DESHAWN KELLER, a 17 year old Detroit resident, was arraigned in 32-A District Court by visiting Judge Carl Jarboe and formally charged with the following:

Count 1-malicious destruction of personal property $1,000 or more but less than $20,000, 5 year felony.
Count 2-weapons-felony firearm-pneumatic gun, 2 year felony.
Count 3-weapons-firearms-possession of a loaded firearm in or upon a vehicle, 2 year high misdemeanor.
Count 4-malicious destruction of building less than $200.00, 93 day misdemeanor.

Bond was set at $25,000.00 cash/surety. KELLER has a Preliminary Examination date scheduled in 32-A District Court on December 19, 2018 at 1:30 p.m.
