Johnathan Lee Shaw made #3 on Sheriff Victor Hill’s Top Ten Most Wanted Back In August 17th, 2017, when he and another suspect made entrance into a vacant building which was the property of the Clayton County Board of Education. Inside, Shaw and the other suspect proceeded to move building supplies around the property with a bulldozer and staged them in the same manner as had been done in another theft, the night before. Shaw and the other suspect were also seen driving a vehicle with plates that were found to have been reported stolen out of Henry County on July 21st, 2017. These actions were captured on video and the suspects were identified, one of them being Johnathan Lee Shaw.
On October 18th, 2017, officers from the Clayton County Police Department responded to an audible alarm at a location in Ellenwood. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a rear window had been broken in order to make entry into the building. It was reported that two televisions, valued at a total of $600.00, were missing from the location. Two latent prints were lifted from the scene and developed. One of the prints was identified as a match for Johnathan Lee Shaw and arrest warrants were subsequently issued by the Clayton County Police Department.
On October 29th, 2017, officers from the Clayton County Police Department were attempting to make contact with a suspicious vehicle in the area of Laramie Road and Platte Drive that was attempting to flee from police. During the encounter, the vehicle struck the front end of a Clayton County Police vehicle, resulting in extensive front end damage, and then struck a tree, after which three suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. One subject was captured and taken into custody. It was then discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Clayton County on September 12th, 2017, and the plates displayed on the vehicle had been used to conceal the identity of the vehicle. A Smith and Wesson SD .40 caliber handgun was discovered on the floor in the rear passenger seat, which had been reported stolen out of Fairburn Police Department on October 31st, 2015. Further investigation into the incident led Clayton County Police to identify the driver of the vehicle as Johnathan Lee Shaw.
