November 20th-26th Police Blotter

November 20th:

Possession of Methamphetamine, Parole Violation – Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 7:15 pm, officers were dispatched to Safeway on the report of an unwanted subject. Officers spoke to a 50-year-old San Francisco man and discovered he was on parole and a registered sex offender. During a search, officers located suspected methamphetamine in the man’s pockets. The man was arrested and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant Arrest - 10026 San Pablo Ave:
At 8:15 am, an officer was dispatched to the report of an unwanted person in the parking lot. Officers contacted a 38-year-old Berkeley man and learned he had a warrant for his arrest. The man was issued a citation with a new court date.

Auto Burglary - 5500 block of Poinsett Ave:
At 1:57 pm, a citizen contacted the police department regarding an auto burglary. The officer learned that in between 0900 and 1200 hours, an unknown suspect broke the window to a vehicle and rifled through the interior.

Grand Theft - Verizon - 410 EC Plaza
At 2:41 pm, a customer was at Verizon purchasing an iPad, an iPhone X, and accessories when an unknown suspect stole them from the counter and fled.

Residential Burglary, Home Invasion – 1500 block of Richmond St / 1700 block of Liberty St:
At 8:38 pm, officers responded to a report of a suspicious male seen entering a vacant home in the 1500 block of Richmond St. Officers located the male in front of the home, but he fled the area on foot. A short time later, officers were called to the 1700 block of Liberty St for a report of a male being restrained by the homeowner after entering the home through the back door. The 29-year-old male from Richmond was arrested and booked into county jail in Martinez.

November 21st:

Driving Under the Influence – Cutting Blvd at S. 49th St:
At 1:19 am, an officer conducted an enforcement stop for a vehicle code violation. The driver exhibited objective signs of intoxication. After performing field sobriety tests, the 22-year-old male from San Francisco, was arrested for suspicion of DUI. He was transported to the El Cerrito PD, booked, and released with a citation to a sober friend.

Auto Burglary – 600 block of Lexington St:
At 8:00 am, an officer was hailed by a citizen who reported that his truck was burglarized. In between 10:00 pm on 11-20-2018 and 8:00 am, this morning, an unidentified suspect broke a window and stole power tools.

November 22nd:

Robbery – Lucky’s 1000 EC Plaza:
At 1:59 pm, officers responded to several 911 calls of a subject fighting with Lucky’s employees. When officers arrived, they learned that a 26-year-old transient male punched a store manager when they attempted to detain him for theft. He had stolen several bags of shrimp and lotion. The manager suffered minor injuries. The subject was booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Driving Under the Influence, DUI Probation Violation – Potrero Ave at San Pablo Ave:
At 8:53 pm, an officer conducted an enforcement stop for a vehicle code violation. The driver, a 30-year-old male from Roseville, exhibited signs of intoxication. After performing field sobriety tests, the 30-year-old male from Roseville was arrested for DUI. He was transported to the El Cerrito PD where he was found to be on probation for a previous DUI conviction. He was booked and released with a citation to a sober friend.

Nov. 23

Vandalism, Hate Crime – 700 block of Kearney St:
At 11:19 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect spray painted the side of a building. The suspect appeared to have sprayed their “tagger” name and also tried to paint a swastika on the wall as well.

DUI – San Pablo Ave and Stockton Ave:
At 10:28 pm, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 67-year-old man for DUI. The man was later released from the El Cerrito Police Department with a citation.

Possession of Controlled Substance – Potrero Ave and S. 53rd St:
At 12:24 am, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 34-year-old woman who was in possession of methamphetamine. The woman was later released from the El Cerrito Police Department with a citation.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – Richmond St and Manila Ave:
At 2:17 am, an officer located a Honda Civic which was reported stolen to the Richmond Police Department earlier in the day. The vehicle was released to the registered owner.

Residential Burglary, Vehicle Theft, Vehicle Pursuit, Probation Violation – 2300 block of Cedar St:
At 4:21 am, officers learned of a residential burglary where the suspect had taken the homeowner's car keys and left in their vehicle. As El Cerrito officers were collecting evidence and circulating the area, officers from the Richmond Police Department located the vehicle. After a pursuit and foot chase, the 34-year-old man was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Nov. 24

Drunk in Public – 6400 block of Manila Ave:
At 5:00 pm, an officer reports the arrest of a 56-year-old male, who was found heavily intoxicated and passed out in a bush. The male was too intoxicated to care for himself and taken into custody. The male was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Vandalism – 11300 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 10:06 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect broke the window of the vehicle parked in the parking lot of business, but nothing was taken.

At 10:38 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect broke the window of the vehicle parked in the parking lot of business, but nothing was taken.

Nov. 25

Shoplifting – 11500 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 8:48 am, an officer reports two females entered a business and concealed $1000 in cosmetics into bags and then fled the store without paying.

Shoplifting – El Cerrito Plaza:
At 1:58 pm, an officer reports the citizen’s arrest of two female juveniles who entered a business, concealed merchandise, and left the store without paying. The juveniles were located a short time later and identified as the suspects by store employees. The females were taken into custody and then released to their parents. The suspects were also responsible for a theft that occurred earlier in the day.

Strong Arm Robbery – BART Path and Lincoln Ave:
At 3:01 pm, officers were dispatched to a robbery which just occurred. The victim was jogging on the BART Path when she was approached by a group of juveniles. One of the males then snatched a phone from the victim’s hand, and the group fled. Officers located a group nearby and detained two of the males. The other members of the group fled from officers on foot, but one was later detained. The three males who were detained were identified as being suspects from the robbery. The males were taken into custody, booked, and then taken to juvenile hall.
