LakeCoAlerts Notification Policy Change

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is committed to providing the public with the most timely and relevant emergency information.  To improve our services, we entered into a contract with Everbridge, to provide LakeCoAlerts, which sends phone calls, text, e-mails and Wireless Emergency Alerts.

As a result of changes by telecommunications providers, and our high volume of use this summer, the costs of our service far exceeded the value of the contract.  Everbridge is NOT passing those additional costs on to the Sheriff’s Office, but has asked for our cooperation with reducing our use of SMS (Text) messaging.  We are also working with other entities to identify alternatives and continue to provide timely and effective emergency notifications.

The Sheriff’s Office will no longer be using SMS (Text) messaging for routine, watch or advisory messages. If you still wish to receive these types of messages via email, you can go to the Sheriff’s Office website at lakesheriff.com and sign up for LakeCoAlerts.

We will use LakeCoAlerts (powered by Everbridge) to send EMERGENCY messages by all available means, including SMS (Text) during emergencies and when critical information is necessary to protect the public.
