INCIDENT: Theft/ Possession of stolen property

LOCATION: 32000 block of Yucaipa Blvd

SUSPECT(S): Antonio Gomez, 25 years old, Transient,
Kirk Reynolds, 47 years old, Yucaipa resident
Jessica Scott, 25 years old, Yucaipa resident

VICTIM: 22-year-old male, resident of Yucaipa


SUMMARY:
While the victim was at a local business, Antonio Gomez entered the victim's unlocked vehicle and stole a backpack, Acer laptop computer and prescription glasses. The crime was captured on surveillance video.

Within minutes of the crime, and before deputies arrived, the victim located Antonio Gomez, who he recognized as the suspect, at 7-Eleven and detained him until deputies arrived. Gomez was in possession of some of the victim's stolen property but most, including the computer, were not found. Gomez was arrested and booked at Central Detention Center on charges of possessing stolen property and for an unrelated vandalism warrant.

While deputies were booking Gomez, the victim advised he located a female, later identified as Jessica Scott, riding a bike at 13th Street / Yucaipa Blvd, who was in possession of the stolen backpack. She stated she found the backpack and laptop on a trail. She returned the backpack to the victim but did not have the laptop.

On November 16th, detectives from the Yucaipa Station contacted Jessica Scott at her residence. Information gathered from their investigation led to the residence of Kirk Reynolds. Detectives located the stolen laptop inside Kirk’s residence and returned it to the victim.

Kirk and Jessica were arrested for PC 485, misappropriation of lost/stolen property. Both were released with citations.
