Deputies respond to personal injury traffic crash in rural Jamestown Township.

On 11/16/2018 just before 11:30 pm, Steuben County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area of CR 300 W south of SR 120 in rural Jamestown Township for a report of a single vehicle personal injury crash. When responding deputies arrived, they found a white 2005 Chevy cargo van up against a large tree with heavy front end damage. The driver of the vehicle identified as 35 year old Jason Loy of Angola was still trapped inside the vehicle and had to be freed by the Fremont Fire Department’s Jaws of Life. Once Loy was free from the wreckage, he was transported to a Fort Wayne area hospital in serious but stable condition for treatment by Steuben County EMS. Initial investigation indicated that Loy was traveling southbound on CR 300 W when for an unknown reason, Loy’s vehicle veered off of the east side of the roadway colliding with a mailbox and then a tree. The weather was clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the crash. Alcohol is believed to be a factor and the crash remains under investigation by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office. Assisting the Sheriff’s Office at the scene were the Fremont Fire Department and Steuben County EMS.
