California City - Officers investigated a stolen vehicle report that occured on Campfire Drive late Monday evening. Officers spotted the vehicle near Lakeshore Drive minutes after the owner of the car, reported the vehicle stolen. Officers attempted to catch up to the speeding vehicle through the residential area around Applewood Ave where the vehicle reportedly failed to stop at stop signs in the neighborhood and drove into the desert behing the homes. The vehicle crashed after it struck a mound of dirt near the Campfire trailer park area. The driver fled on foot.

Officers arrested a 14 year-old CCMS male student in connection with the stolen car. The male student was wanted by juvenile authorities for a previous assault case. He was transported to Juvenile Hall.
