License plate violation leads to arrest of duo.

On November 11, 2018 at 1:01 p.m. Deputy U.B. Smith attempted to stop a Dark Blue 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue in the parking lot of Marathon Fastbreak for having false and fictitious plates. Upon approaching the vehicle in the parking lot the driver got out of the vehicle and attempted to walk away from the scene. At that point Deputy Smith stopped the female and identified her as 32 year old Britney Fischer of Princeton. During a roadside investigation Deputy Smith discovered illegal drugs and paraphernalia at the scene and placed Ms. Fischer into custody. Also a passenger in the vehicle 44 year old Craig Phillips also of Princeton was found to have a Writ of Attachment Warrant out of Vanderburgh County.

At the conclusion of his investigation Deputy Smith transported both Ms. Fischer and Mr. Phillips to the Gibson County Jail. Upon arriving at the Gibson County Jail Ms. Fischer was charged with Possession of Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana, Neglect of a Dependent, Possession of Methamphetamines, and Driving While Suspended Prior. She remains in custody on a $750 bond. Mr. Phillips remains in custody on the Vanderburgh County Writ of Attachment.

Assisting Deputy Smith in his investigation was Princeton Officers J.D. Clark and Jay Riley.

All Criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
