The Richmond Fire Department has sent a crew of four firefighters as part of a Contra Costa County Task Force to help extinguish the Butte County wildland fires.. They have arrived at base camp and will receive a working assignment this morning. All City of Richmond fire resources remain at full staff.
Poor air quality due to Butte Co. fires; recommend to stay indoors; close windows, turn off air conditioning; monitor news for updates.
Smoky conditions from the Butte Co. wildland fires have compromised the air quality in our region. We offer the following suggestions if you have respiratory challenges:
- Close windows, air vents, and fireplace dampers
- Turn off whole house fans, heating and air conditioning systems
- Don’t forget to bring your pets inside too
- Continue to monitor the news outlets, radio, internet or other mediums for updates
- Call 911 if you need to report a life-threatening condition or event
