El Cerrito Police Blotter Oct. 29-Nov. 5th
October 29th:
Safeway: 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1025 hours, an officer responded to the report of a subject stealing at Safeway. When stopped by security, the suspect pulled out a folding knife, brandished it at security, and fled.
Commercial Burglary: 10200 block of San Pablo Ave:
In between 10/26/2018 and 10/29/2018, an unidentified suspect entered an unlocked bathroom door, ransacked the entire office, and stole various gift cards

Auto Burglary: 410 EC Plaza.
In between 1120 and 1215, an unknown suspect smashed the window of a Subaru and stole a gym bag.
Threats: 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1617 hours, an officer responded to the report of an unwanted subject at Safeway. The armed security guard asked a subject, later identified as a 62-year-old Richmond resident, to leave the store. The subject indicated he had a weapon and threatened to shoot the security guard. He took a step at the security guard as if to fight him and the security guard sprayed him with pepper spray. The suspect fled on foot.
Auto Burglary: Wall Avenue at Kearney Street:
At 1935 hours an officer responded for the report of an auto burglary. An unidentified suspect shattered a window of a vehicle stole a backpack.
Auto Burglary: Wall Avenue at Kearney Street:
When the officer was taking the above report, he discovered another vehicle had a window shattered. He found the glove compartment was looked through.
Criminal Threats and Drunk-in-Public: 11450 San Pablo Avenue (Safeway):
An officer responded to Safeway for the report of an unwanted subject threatening the Security Guard. The man was placed under arrest and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
October 30th
Robbery: BART Path / Knott Ave:
At 0834 hours, officers responded to the report of a robbery that just occurred. The victim was walking along the BART path when three suspects confronted her. One of the suspects grabbed her purse which they forcibly ripped from her grasp. A witness reported seeing them flee northbound and get into a dark BMW with paper plates.
Auto Burglary - 11700 San Pablo Ave:
While on the above-mentioned robbery call, an officer noticed several vehicles with broken windows in the apartment parking lot. A total of nine vehicles were burglarized in between 2230 hours and 0900 hours.
Shoplifting – CVS, 10650 San Pablo Ave:
At 1043 hours, an officer was contacted by the management of CVS regarding a shoplifting that just occurred. An unknown female took six bottles of shower gel and fled to a white 2012 Honda Civic while dropping two bottles on the way.
Shoplifting - CVS 670 EC Plaza:
At 1137 hours, an officer was flagged down by store employees in regards to a suspect stealing a large quantity of alcohol.
Auto Burglary 6050 EC Plaza:
At 1253 hours, an officer responded to the report of two auto burglaries in front of Bed Bath and Beyond. An unidentified suspect smashed the window of a Hyundai and a Ford and stole property.
Auto Burglary 1000 EC Plaza:
At 1333 hours, an officer responded to the report of an auto burglary. In between 1130 hours and 1245 hours, an unknown suspect smashed the window of a truck and stole a bag containing business records.
Driving Under the Influence: San Pablo Avenue at Cutting Blvd:
An officer made a traffic enforcement stop for a vehicle code violation and subsequently arrested the driver for driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver was cited and released to a family member.
October 31st
Shoplifting: CVS, 10650 San Pablo Ave:
At 1121 hours, an officer responded to the report of a shoplifting. The officer determined an unidentified suspect stole cologne and fled on foot.
Shoplifting: Walgreens, 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At 1249 hours, an officer responded to the report of a shoplifting. An unknown suspect stole $60 in pistachios and took off towards the BART station.
Warrant Arrest: Central Ave. / San Pablo Ave:
At 1620 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and contacted a 37-year-old Richmond man, who was wanted on a domestic violence warrant. He was arrested, booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
November 1st
Residential Burglary: 500 block of Kearney St.
At 1235 hours, an officer responded to the report of an unknown suspect entering an apartment building lobby and prying open 12 mailboxes sometime overnight.
Possession of a pipe to smoke controlled substance: 5920 Cutting Blvd.:
At 1357 hours, an officer contacted a 24-year-old male during a suspicious vehicle check. He was found to have a methamphetamine pipe and driving on a suspended license. He was also on probation. He was field cited.
Warrant Arrest: CVS, 10650 San Pablo Ave:
At 1506 hours, an officer contacted a 31-year-old woman during a suspicious person call. She was on felony probation and wanted on a Berkeley Police Department warrant for her arrest.
Residential Burglary: 6900 block of Gladys Ave:
At 1428 hours, an officer responded to the report of a residential burglary. In between 10/26/2018 an 11/01/2018, an unidentified suspect smashed the rear window and made entry into the residence. Misc items including furniture were stolen.
Driving Under the Influence: San Pablo Avenue at Cutting Blvd:
An officer made a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle and subsequently arrested the driver for driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver was cited and released to a family member.
Warrant: San Pablo Avenue near Fairmount Avenue:
During a suspicious vehicle investigation, an officer found the driver had a warrant for his arrest. The driver was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility for the warrant.
Robbery: Potrero Avenue near Elm Street:
Officers responded for the report of a robbery. The victim reports he was walking down the street when he was approached by two suspects who forcefully stole his backpack from him.
Driving Under the Influence: Central Avenue at Carlson Blvd:
An officer made a traffic enforcement stop for a vehicle code violation and subsequently arrested the driver for driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver was cited and released to a friend.
November 2
Auto Burglary – 1700 block of Lexington Ave:
At 9:18 am, an officer reports the arrest of a 56-year-old male from San Pablo after the victim spotted him walking away with items which were just stolen from her vehicle. The man was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility.
Residential Burglary – 5800 block of Avila Pl:
At 5:16 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered the victim’s residence by breaking a rear window. The suspect conducted a ransack of residence and took the victim’s social security card.
Warrant Arrest – 11500 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 9:22 pm, an officer contacted a 25-year-old San Rafael man in the parking lot and arrested him on a warrant. The man was later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Stolen Vehicle Recovery – San Pablo Ave / Burlingame Ave:
At 12:43 am, an officer located a white Honda Accord which had been reported stolen to the San Pablo PD on 11-01-18.
November 3
Warrant Arrest – 11300 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 8:16 am, an officer contacted a pedestrian, a 37-year-old male, and discovered the male had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest. The male was issued a new court date and released on the scene.
Outside Assistance – San Pablo Ave and Conlon Ave:
At 4:30 pm, an officer was flagged down by a citizen who stated her car was broken into at the Target in Richmond. The victim chased the male to San Pablo Avenue, and she directed the officer to the male who was running away from him. The male, a 32-year-old, was then contacted and detained. Since the crime occurred in Richmond, El Cerrito officers stood by until Richmond police arrived on scene and took over the investigation.
Possession of Stolen Vehicle – El Dorado St / San Pablo Ave:
At 7:01 pm, an officer arrested a 48-year-old El Cerrito man who was in possession of a vehicle which had originally been reported stolen to the Pittsburg PD on 10-9-18.
November 4
Trespassing and Possession of a Controlled Substance – 11300 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 7:19 am, officers accepted the citizen’s arrest of an unwanted subject. The subject, a 20-year-old male, was asked to leave several times before police arrival. A search of the subject revealed he was in possession of a usable amount of a controlled substance. The male was booked and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Outside Assist – Stockton Ave and Everett St:
At 9:55 am, BART requested assistance after they located a male who matched the description of a subject who brandished a firearm on a BART train. El Cerrito Police officers arrived on scene and assisted in taking the male into custody. A search of the male revealed he had a loaded firearm in his waistband. The male was then taken into custody by BART Police.
Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave / MacDonald Ave:
At 12:03 am, an officer contacted a 49-year-old transient male and found he had a warrant for his arrest. The man was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
November 5
Sex Registrant Fail to comply – 11700 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 8:46 am, an officer contacted a 59-year-old male and discovered he was a registered sex offender. A records check revealed the male was out of compliance and had not registered in several months. The male was taken into custody and then taken to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Domestic Violence – 11800 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 9:42 am, an officer reports a 19-year-old male struck his girlfriend on the head and face several times during a verbal argument. The male also threatened the female during the argument. The male was located nearby and taken into custody.
Stolen Vehicle – 400 block of El Cerrito Plaza:
At 11:08 pm, an officer reports the theft of a white 1999 Chevy 3500 pickup sometime between 7:15 pm and 10:28 pm that same day.
Warrant Arrest – Potrero Ave / Arlington Blvd:
At 11:09 pm, an officer contacted a 34-year-old Hayward man during a traffic stop and learned the man had a warrant for his arrest. The man was issued a new court date and released at the scene.
DUI – Central Ave / San Pablo Ave:
At 1:38 am, an officer contacted a 27-year-old Rodeo man and suspected the man and arrested him for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man was booked at the ECPD and then released to a friend.
