Harris County Sheriff’s Office investigators assigned to the High Tech Crime Unit have arrested and charged 22-year-old Joaquin Ernesto Mesa-Sanchez for the online solicitation of a 13-year-old.

On Wednesday, November 7, 2018, investigators were contacted in regards to an offense involving the online solicitation of a minor.

Investigators learned the child’s parents were looking through the victim’s phone when they found conversations between their daughter and an adult male using Snapchat.

The conversations were sexual in nature and the child had been sent pornographic videos and images from the account associated to the suspect.

Investigators learned the defendant sent his driver’s license picture to the child over Snapchat to show who he was.

Investigators of the High Tech Crime Unit in conjunction with Homeland Security Investigations set up a meet with Mesa-Sanchez, who believed he was still communicating with the victim.

Mesa-Sanchez messaged the child’s phone to confirm their meeting yesterday afternoon at 4pm.

When the defendant arrived at the location he was taken into custody without incident.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and accepted the charge of Online Solicitation of a Minor.

Mesa-Sanchez is currently being held on a $10,000 bond.
