Petaluma PD Arrests Suspect Armed With Knife For Criminal Threats
Incident Summary
On November 6, 2018, at approximately 4:01 PM, the Petaluma Police Department responded to a residence in the 100 block of Penrod Drive for a report of a subject armed with a knife threatening other occupants. Officers arrived on scene and contacted a subject, later identified as George Martinez, matching the description of the involved subject in front of the residence.
The officers noted that Martinez was holding a knife in one hand while he appeared to be video recording the officers with a cell phone he was holding in his other hand. The officers ordered Martinez at gun point to drop the knife and get on the ground. After multiple commands and the arrival of additional officers, Martinez eventually complied and was taken into custody without incident. The knife Martinez was in possession of was collected and booked into evidence.
Martinez was placed under arrest for a violation of 422 PC, criminal threats, and booked into Sonoma County Jail. None of the occupants of the residence were injured during this incident.
