Do you remember the afternoon of September 19th, 2018 when Deputies Goldstein and Harris rescued 1 year old Charlie and his dad,Jason Williams, from a burning building? This morning, Supervisor Kathryn Barger honored our deputies at the Board of Supervisors meeting held at the Hall of Administration.

On September 19th, Deputies Harris and Goldstein responded to a call for service of an apartment complex on fire. When they arrived, Los Angeles County Fire Department was diligently working on putting the fire out, calling for evacuations of all the apartments. Even though residents assured deputies that everyone was out of the building, one closed door upstairs caught Deputy Goldstein's eye and both deputies ran up to knock on it. Noticing the door was locked, Deputy Harris kicked the door, allowing Deputy Goldstein to run in. Inside the smoky apartment, he found a confused Mr. Williams, clearly having just woken up from a nap. Deputy Goldstein ran to the rear bedroom and found little Charlie sound asleep in his own bed. Deputies Tanner and Goldstein were able to run out of the burning building with both father and son.

We thank the Board of Supervisors and Supervisor Barger for taking the time to honor our deputies. We are so proud of both Deputies Goldstein and Tanner!
