REMEMBER TO VOTE TODAY! VOTING POLL LOCATIONS & OBTAINING ELECTION RESULTS

The City of Santa Ana reminds voters that the Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. Voters can find their assigned polling place:

• On the back cover of their Voter Information Guide (Sample Ballot).
• On-line at http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/polling-place/.
• By calling the Clerk of the Council Office at (714) 647-6520, during regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Voters who requested mail ballots may return their voted mail ballots by mail, but the ballot must be postmarked by Election Day.
Alternatively, voted mail ballots may either be returned to their polling location – or - can vote at their assigned polling place if they want to vote in person or have misplaced their mail ballot. However, voters must surrender the mail ballot and return envelope if they want to avoid voting on a provisional ballot and have a longer wait time at the polls.

HOW TO OBTAIN ELECTION RESULTS:

Election results will be posted online on the Orange County Registrar of Voters website at www.ocvotes.com/results/. Here is the posting schedule for Election Day:
• 8:05 p.m. - Vote-by-Mail and early voting results posted.
• 9:30 p.m. - first unofficial results from polling places and every 30 minutes thereafter until 1 a.m.
• Updates will continue each weekday by 5:00 p.m. during the canvas period until the last official results are certified.

Election results are produced by physically closing down a polling place, driving the secure results to a drop off location, which is then driven under the guard of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department to the Registrar of Voters Office. This is a physical process, not electronic, which takes time. The City of Santa Ana has over 60 polling locations, but the County of Orange operates nearly 1,300 polling places, which means polling place results vary depending on when they drop off ballots.

The Registrar of Voters Office expects the bulk of results to come in from 10:30 p.m. to midnight, when most of the polling places finish closing due to last minute voters. When comparing what has been reported, voters should look at total turnout, not just precinct reported data. While most California counties will continue counting through the night and into the following day, the Registrar of Voters Office will finish their unofficial results by 1:00 a.m. (estimated).

Information provided by the City of Santa Ana as a public service announcement; is non-partisan and does not endorse any candidate. If you have any questions, please contact the Santa Ana Clerk of the Council Office at (714) 647-6520, during regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and alternating Fridays..
