POLICE ARREST SUSPECT IN MULTIPLE THEFT CASES

HOLLISTER, CALIFORNIA – November 1, 2018– On November 1, 2018, Hollister Police officers arrested Carlos Sanchez (36 years old) of Hollister on numerous theft related crimes.

For the past several months, Hollister Police officers have responded to numerous vehicle burglary reports and thefts from vehicles in different neighborhoods throughout Hollister. Several of those crimes were captured on surveillance videos and widely publicized on various social media websites. Officers were diligently working on those cases, however absolute identification of the suspect in those cases was often difficult.

Two specific cases were recently initiated in which Sanchez was positively identified as the suspect. One case involved stolen electronics from a vehicle burglary that was recycled for money at an in-store kiosk. Another case involved Sanchez using a stolen credit card fraudulently at a local retailer. Sanchez was positively identified as a suspect in those cases.

On November 1, 2018, Officer Neyerda Burbank and Officer Bo Leland were attempting to follow-up and contact Sanchez at his residence on Nolte Alley in Hollister. Upon contacting the residents, Sanchez initially fled out the back door. Officers quickly set up a perimeter to contain Sanchez in the area. He subsequently returned to his home to hide but he was located by Officers Burbank and Leland when they returned to the residence and searched the interior.

Sanchez was transported to and booked at the San Benito County Jail on charges related to theft, stolen property possession, use of an access card, and other various charges. His bail is set at $125,000. Officers are continuing to follow-up on other cases to see if there is a connection tying Sanchez to those crimes.
