It’s November, and that means it’s time for the men of the Sheboygan Police Department to get hairy! For the third year, officers of the Sheboygan Police Department will be participating in “No Shave November.”  If you’re not already aware, this fundraiser is our opportunity to raise awareness and money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sheboygan County (BBBSSC).  In exchange for a donation to BBBSSC, officers are allowed to put down their razors and grow facial hair during the month of November.  Last year, we raised $2,200 internally, plus another $4,100 from outside donations.
 
Since Sheboygan Police Officers are generally not allowed to grow facial hair, this event provides a fun opportunity to connect with members of the public when asked about their unusual hairiness.  If someone inquires about their appearance, officers are encouraged to engage them in a brief discussion about Big Brothers Big Sisters and share that our agency supports the mentoring they do to prevent delinquency and build character in kids.
 
Consider a donation to BBBSSC directly.  Better yet, consider volunteering as a Mentor!  With your choice of community-based or school-based programs, you can start something incredible: a one-to-one relationship built on trust and friendship that can blossom into a future of unlimited potential.
