Learn to save the life of a loved one in cardiac arrest! Attend a free CPR presentation by SFD on July 11 or July 25.
A patient in cardiac arrest has very little chance of survival unless a bystander takes immediate action to sustain him or her until the paramedics arrive. Presently, only 1 in 4 patients in cardiac arrest receives bystander CPR. Studies have found that bystanders are more willing to start resuscitation efforts if mouth-to-mouth ventilations are not required.
Learn from Scottsdale Fire Department how to save the life of a loved one, coworker or a stranger in cardiac arrest by using a new CPR technique called Continuous Chest Compressions (CCC). This new technique is easy, safe, and does not require mouth-to-mouth contact. CCC takes only minutes to learn, is easy to perform and can dramatically improve a person’s chance of surviving a heart attack.
Scottsdale Fire Department staff and volunteers will teach you how to respond to a cardiac emergency including important tips for calling 911, performing chest compressions, and how to use an AED.
Free community workshops on the new CCC resuscitation technique will be held:
•1:30 – 3 pm, Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Scottsdale Fire Dept. Headquarters; 8401 E. Indian School Road
•10 – 11:30 am, Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Horizon Community Center; 15440 N. 100th Street
Please note: No CPR certification cards will be issued at these presentations.
