Fall Back... Daylight Savings is this weekend! Remember these safety tips!

Daylight Saving Time is ending: In addition to checking your fire alarms, Here are some important safety tips:

Daylight saving time ends at 2 am Sunday, November 4th, which not only means that you’ll set your clocks back one hour but that it will get dark earlier. It’s a good time to remember that a few simple precautions can help discourage would-be thieves looking for an easy score.

MCP Police Chief Michael Wilson reminds people that “public safety is everyone’s responsibility.”

Police safety tips for evening commutes:

  • Stay alert to your surroundings at all times, especially going to and from your vehicles.
  • Avoid using smart devices (cell phones, tablets, etc.) when walking to and from work.
  • Find a travel buddy. Walk to your vehicles in groups or pairs if you can.
  • If you feel you are being followed, call the police or security immediately. Security escorts are available upon request.
  • If you witness any suspicious activity, keep a safe distance and report it to police.
  • Make sure your keys are readily accessible when approaching your vehicle and always check the backseat before entering your vehicle.
  • Carry a small flashlight and whistle to make yourself extra visible & heard if necessary.
  • Park in well-lit areas and always have a safety plan in place.
  • Program the MCP Police emergency line into your mobile phone for quick access:  Annapolis Complex - 410-260-2911, Baltimore Complex 410-767-2911.

Remember, if you see something, say something….
