Halloween is Creeping Up on Us! Stay Safe and Remember These Safety Tips

Happy Halloween San Mateo, from our family to yours! This Spooktacular night is only one day away and we wanted to remind our community of a few safety tips as you head out for a fun filled evening.

- Be visible, stay visible – use flashlights and reflective clothing, walk on the sidewalks rather than cutting through yards, and cross streets only at intersections and with due caution.

-Put electronic devices down, keep heads up, and make eye contact with drivers as you cross the street. Be aware of your surroundings!

- Have an adult inspect all candy before consumption – beware of loose wrappers, unwrapped, punctured, or homemade candy. When in doubt, throw it out!

- Drivers should be cautious and aware on Halloween, especially during prime trick-or treating hours between 4 and 8pm, and specifically in our residential neighborhoods. If you must drive this Halloween, PLEASE SLOW DOWN and keep your full attention on the roadway ahead. Be alert for excited youngsters, whose vision maybe obscured by masks, darting out into traffic.  You may see them, but they might not see you.
