Yesterday, at approximately 1100am, Patrol Units were dispatched to a reported bank robbery that had just occurred at the Valley National Bank located at 2818 Route 27. The suspect had reportedly just left the bank. Units arrived and secured the scene, confirming that no one was injured. Detectives arrived on scene and began their investigation. Evidence was recovered, and leads were immediately followed up on by the Detective Bureau. The investigation was active for the remainder of the day, with a suspect being arrested at approximately 7pm last night, near his home.
Mark Elbaum, 52, of Hillsborough, New Jersey was arrested and charged with First Degree Robbery. The arrest took place without incident. Mr. Elbaum is suspected in several other robberies throughout the area, and those investigations are ongoing with additional charges pending.
