Traffic Alert for Saturday, November 3rd

Traffic Alert for Saturday, November 3rd. Please share this information to those who live along the route, especially those who do not utilize social media.

The police department would like to make everyone aware of heavy pedestrian traffic, and a temporary road closures, for this Saturday November 3rd during the “D.A.R.E. to Run for BackStoppers” run/walk. With over 250 people signed up for the event so far, please use caution between 9:00 a.m. & 10:30 a.m. One road closure during that time will be on Mueller Lane, between the 3600 block of Mueller Lane and Saxtown Road. Only residents who live in that area will have access to that short stretch of road. Those who live in in the Briars, should exit or enter the subdivision via Douglas Road.
There are two routes to the run, which begins and ends at Liederkranz Park. The intersection of West Gooding and North Main, as well as North Main between Gooding and Legion will also be closed during this time. Drivers are encouraged to use caution and find alternate routes.

The 5K route is as follows:
* South on North Main St. to West Mill St.
* W. Mill Street, across Polk, down Blackburn Manor to Cedar, towards W. Washington St. * West on West Washington & Kropp Road. The turn-around will be in the 1400 block of Kropp Road. They will then come back the same route. The 5K route will be the most congested.
The 10K route is as follows:
* S. Main to W. Laurel - The runners will cross West Washington at Main Street. There should be less than 100 runners for the 10K, however, if you can avoid that intersection for the first five or 10 minutes of the event, please do so.
* W. Laurel to Veterans
* Veterans to Saxtown
* Saxtown to Mueller, then down Mueller (approximately ¼ down), where they will turn around and return the same route.

Please share this information, especially to those who live along these routes. Again, the 5K route will be the most congested. Those who use Kropp Road during this time should use caution. The heaviest traffic will occur between 9:00 and 9:45.

If you happen to live on or close to the routes, feel free to encourage the participants along the way with cheering or motivational signs! We have runners and walkers from all over the greater St. Louis area participating.

We appreciate the communities’ cooperation during our event!
