Police Arrest Father and Son after Simple Citation Turns Into A DUI Accident and Gas Leak

HOLLISTER, CALIFORNIA – October 26, 2018– The Hollister Police Department arrested a local resident for maintaining a nuisance and falling to sign a citation.  This arrest led to the suspect’s son going to the jail, where his father was being booked, and ultimately running his vehicle into a gas and water line while fleeing from officers.

On October 22, 2018, at about 10:45 P.M., Officer Miguel Masso responded to a report of a restraining order violation at 361 Paul Drive.  Police had been called to the residence several times within a week for the same reason.  Francisco has a very long history of disturbing neighbors. He currently has a court order prohibiting him from being within a 100 yards of his neighbor’s residence; which means he cannot be at that residence on Paul Drive.

Samuel Zendejas (Francisco’s father), told Officer Masso, Francisco was not there but admitted he had been there earlier.  Officer Masso attempted to issue Samuel a citation for allowing the nuisance and violation of the restraining order to continue, but he refused to cooperate and attempted to flee back into his home.  He then physically resisted the officer’s attempts to detain him; which ultimately led to his arrest.  Officer Masso transported Samuel to the county to be booked.

Later that night, Francisco arrived outside of the jail’s gates and began yelling at Officers who were in the process of booking his father.  As officers asked the jail staff to open the gate to contact Francisco,  he ran to a nearby truck and sped away at a high rate of speed.

Francisco sped southbound on the jail road, failed to turn at Flynn Road and hit both a natural gas and water line at the south side of Flynn Road.  The entire road and area were shut down for 4 hours until leaks were repaired.  After being taken into custody, Francisco spat at and attempted to bite officers and paramedics.

Samuel Zendejas was booked on the charges of maintaining a public nuisance and obstruction.  Francisco Zendejas was transported to an area hospital and was cited and released for treatment of his injuries sustained in the crash.  He was cited for battery of an EMT, DUI, obstructing an officer and driving on a suspended license.
