Cal City man arrested after report of armed subject near school 
California City - RPU school was temporarily placed on an emergency lockdown after police received a report of a male running toward school with a gun.
At 2:45 PM, police responded to a call of a man armed with a handgun running toward RPU Elementary School. A caller reported being involved in an argument with a male who had brandished a possible handgun. The caller told police that the suspect was running toward RPU school. Officers arrived to the school within 1 minute and spotted a subject matching the description.
As a precaution, the police department notified the school and the school was placed on a temporary lock-down.
The call occurred within a few minutes of the school releasing the children for the day. Parents experienced a slight delay as the suspect was taken into custody by police.
The suspect, 41 year-old Jonathan Perkins of Cal City was arrested for weapons violations. No firearms were found. No injuries reported.
