El Cerrito Police Blotter October 15th-22nd

October 15th:

Auto Burglary 1100 block of Richmond St:
At 0911 hours, an officer responded to the report of a burglary. In between 0200 hours and 0910 hours, an unidentified suspect broke the window to the victim’s BMW and stole misc. items.

Auto Burglary Mono Dr./Poinsett Dr:
At approx. 0300 hours, a neighbor heard glass breaking but didn’t call the police or investigate. In the morning, they discovered the window of a neighbor’s CRV was. The owner of the CRV was unable to be located.

Auto Burglary 2600 block of Ellerhorst Dr:
On Oct. 13th at 0900 hours, an unidentified suspect smashed the window of the victim’s vehicle and stole a portable massage table along with various massage oils, total loss $600.

Theft – 24 Hour Fitness, 11636 San Pablo Ave:
Between 1800 and 1845 hours, an unknown suspect defeated the lock the victim placed on the locker in the female locker room and stole property.

Theft – 24 Hour Fitness, 11636 San Pablo Ave:
Between 1800 and 1900 hours, an unknown suspect defeated the lock the victim placed on the locker in the female locker room and stole her property.

Warrant (X3) – 11821 San Pablo Ave:
At 2036 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 40-year-old male from Richmond on two Contra Costa County warrants and one Marin County Warrant. He was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Stolen Vehicle – 1100 block Richmond St:
On 10/13/18, the victim’s ex-girlfriend, a 38-year-old female, took the victim’s 2014 Jeep without his permission while he was away from home for a couple of days.

October 16th:

Stolen Vehicle 11755 San Pablo Ave:
On Sept. 4th, a 26-year-old female obtained a black 2011 Honda CRV with a fraudulent check.

Shoplifting 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1532 hours, an officer was dispatched to the listed location on the report a theft. Officers arrived on scene and located a 61-year-old male suspect at the Del Norte BART station. He was identified, placed under citizen’s arrest, and field cited.

Criminal Threats – Potrero Ave / S. 55th Street:
At 1845 hours, officers responded to a disturbance over a traffic collision. A 28-year-old Richmond man was driving one vehicle and rear-ended a second. The driver of the second tried to initiate the exchange of information, but the man refused to provide any identification. The man became angry and indicated he had a gun. The driver of the second vehicle feared for his safety and detained the man until officers arrived. The man was placed under arrest, booked at the ECPD, and then released on a citation.

October 17th:

Warrant – San Pablo Ave / Wall Ave:
At 1427 hours, an officer arrested a 21-year-old Richmond man on a warrant out of Marin County. He was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Residential Burglary – 5300 block School St:
At 1445 hours, an unknown male suspect broke a window, entered the residence, and stole property.

Shoplifting – Safeway – 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1505 hours, an officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 45-year-old female for stealing $25 worth of steaks.

Warrant – 11740 San Pablo Ave:
At 2055 hours, an officer responded to a trespassing call and contacted a 35-year-old man from San Pablo. He was wanted on a felony Contra Costa County warrant. He was arrested, booked at the ECPD, and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

October 18th:

Public Intoxication, Vehicle Tampering, Delay Officer – 100 block San Carlos Ave:
At 0650 hours, officers responded to a report of a male slumped over the wheel in a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers located a 20-year-old man from Richmond. He was in another person’s vehicle and passed out due to being highly intoxicated. The man refused to cooperate with officers and then physically resisted when arrested for public intoxication. He was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Auto Burglary – 6060 Central Ave (Nations)
At 1215 hours, an unknown suspect shattered the left front window of the victim’s black 2006 VW Passat and stole a diaper bag. The suspect fled in a grey four-door vehicle.

Attempt Grand Theft – 205 El Cerrito Plaza (Trader Joes)
At 1555 hours, an unknown suspect attempted to steal a road bicycle worth $2400.

Drug Possession – San Pablo Ave / Moeser Ln:
At 0417 hrs, an officer stopped a 30-year-old Richmond man for a traffic violation and found suspected methamphetamine during a search of the vehicle. The man was arrested, booked at ECPD and then released on a citation.

October 19th

Battery – McDonald’s 11821 San Pablo Ave.
At approximately 1343 hours, the victim was walking along San Pablo Ave. when approached by the suspect. The suspect began to punch the victim in the face for no apparent reason. The suspect fled on foot westbound across San Pablo Ave. Officers circulated for the suspect but were unable to locate her.

Possession of Stolen Property/Identity Theft/Burglary/Warrant Arrest - Honda 11755 San Pablo Ave.
At approximately 1542 hours, the dealership called and advised two suspects were attempting to purchase a vehicle with fraudulent identification. A 27-year-old female from Oakland and a 23-year-old male from Fairfield were detained inside of the business. The female provided the dealership with identifying information to a victim that lived in Washington DC. They contacted the victim, and she advised that she had been a victim of identity theft. The female was in possession of a credit card that did not belong to her either. The male was on found to be on felony probation out of Contra Costa County and had a warrant for his arrest from the Oakland Police Department. A search of his vehicle revealed credit cards skimmers. The male and female were arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported to the County Jail in Martinez.

Criminal Threats – Safeway 11450 San Pablo Avenue.
At 2037 hours, an officer reports the security guard at the business refused to let a 61-year-old Oakland man who had been banned from the store enter the property. The man began to curse at the security guard and threatened to use a firearm against him. The man left prior to police arrival but was later positively identified.

Provide False Name to Police/Possess Drug Paraphernalia/Warrant Arrest – CVS 670 El Cerrito Plaza.
At 2144 hours, an officer responded to a report of a man inside the business concealing merchandise in what was believed an attempt to shoplift. The officer contacted a 34-year-old male who initially provided the officer with a fictitious name. The man’s real name was discovered, and he was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and had a warrant for his arrest. The man was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

DUI – Central Avenue / San Pablo Avenue.
At 0029 hours, an officer arrested a 33-year-old Richmond man for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man was transported to the El Cerrito Police Department where he was issued a citation and released to a sober friend.

October 20th

Vandalism and Petty Theft – 7007 Moeser Lane:
At approximately 0801 hours, an officer noticed that an unknown suspect cut the gas tank line, and likely siphoned gas, from one of the city vans parked in the community center.

Warrant Arrest – BART Path and Schmidt Lane:
At approximately 1117 hours, an officer was on bicycle patrol and conducted a pedestrian stop on a 36-year-old male from El Cerrito. The male had a warrant for his arrest out of Contra Costa County. The male was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported to the County Jail in Martinez.

Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Avenue / Barrett Avenue:
At 0132 hours, an officer contacted a 30-year-old Richmond woman and arrested her on a Contra Costa County warrant. The woman was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

October 21st

Domestic Violence Restraining Order – 2500 block of Alva Ave:
At approximately 0716 hours, the parents of the victim called to report their daughter’s ex-boyfriend, a 27-year-old male, was parked in front of their residence. The male and the victim engaged in an argument yesterday in front of the residence. During the argument, the male threatened to break the victim’s jaw. The victim has a restraining order against the male which states that he is not to harass or threaten the victim. Neither the parents nor the suspect knew the whereabouts of the victim. The male was released and warned not to return to the residence.

Warrant Arrest – BART Path and Conlon Ave:
At approximately 1530 hours, while on bicycle patrol, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and subsequently arrested a 53-year-old male, for an outstanding Contra Costa County warrant. The male was taken into custody and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant Arrest – Blake St and BART Path:
At approximately 1634 hours, while on bicycle patrol, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 48-year-old male from El Sobrante on a Contra Costa County warrant. The male was booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Robbery – CVS 670 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 1819 hours, an officer reports a male who was shoplifting from the business punched an employee in the face when the employee tried to intervene. The man was later positively identified as a 41-year-old Concord man. The man was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Vandalism/Trespassing/Probation Violation – Safeway 11450 San Pablo Avenue:
At 2047 hours, officers responded to a report of a male breaking pumpkins in front of the store. Officers located a 39-year-old El Sobrante man who was identified as the responsible party. The man has had several problems at the same location in the past and was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Suspended Drivers License/Possession of Controlled Substance/Probation Violation – Potrero Avenue / I-80 Overpass:
At 0241 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 34-year-old Richmond man who was unlicensed and in possession of methamphetamine. The man was also on probation and was issued a citation before being released from the scene.

October 22nd

Grand Theft – CVS 670 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 1631 hours, an officer reports that a suspect entered the business and concealed approximately $2K worth of merchandise into a piece of luggage before fleeing.

Battery – 11795 San Pablo Avenue:
At 1501 hours, an officer reports that an unknown male assaulted another male causing the second male to become injured. The injured male was combative with first responder personnel and was taken to the hospital. Several pieces of conflicting information led officers to believe the suspect and victim were acquaintances.

Vandalism – Denny’s 11344 San Pablo Avenue:
At 1915 hours, an officer reports the rear window of the victim’s Chevy Tahoe was broken by an unknown suspect. There was nothing taken from the inside of the vehicle.

Resisting Arrest/Possession of Controlled Substance/Drug Paraphernalia/Probation Violation – Cutting Boulevard / San Pablo Avenue:
At 2232 hours, an officer attempted to contact a 57-year-old Richmond man who failed to stop for the officer and rode away on a bicycle. After a short chase, the man abandoned his bike and fled on foot but was apprehended by the officer. The man was in possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and on probation. The man was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant – San Pablo Avenue / Schmidt Lane:
At 0251 hours, an officer contacted a 27-year-old Richmond man during a traffic stop and arrested him on a Santa Clara County warrant. The man was issued a citation and released from the scene.
