Medal of Valor Awards
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department recognizes its members who have performed great acts of courage and gone beyond the call of duty. During these acts of heroism, deputies have placed their own lives at risk and often saved the lives of others. The Sheriff’s Department recognizes these deputies during their annual Valor Awards Ceremony.
This year, the Walnut Diamond Bar Station was honored to have five of their deputies and one of their sergeants recognized at the Valor Awards Ceremony, which was held on October 17, 2018, at the University of Southern California’s Galen Center. In all, Sheriff Jim McDonnell honored 51 Department members, including four reserve deputies and two retired deputies. He also recognized six private citizens who received the Department’s Humanitarian Award for their selflessness, personal commitment, and sacrifice to help others.
The incredible event was held at the Galen Center for the fourth consecutive year. Special guest and Mistress of Ceremonies, Jovana Lara, ABC7 LA Eyewitness News Anchor, narrated the heroic actions of each award recipient before a large audience.
Congratulations to our Walnut Diamond Bar Station award recipients for their great acts of courage.
