Saturday October 27, 2018 is National Drug Take Back Day .Fall is a good time of the year to clean out your medicine cabinets. After doing so, between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM you can turn in your unused or expired medication for safe disposal at the Merrimack Police Department’s front parking lot. We will have officers there to assist in the collection.

If you can’t make it during the above hours on Saturday, we do have a 24-hour drop box located in our department’s front lobby for your convenience. Just walk in and deposit your medications in the drop box, no questions asked and no need to check in with anyone.

Also on Saturday during the Drug Take Back, Merrimack Middle School’s SADD (Students against destructive decisions), chapter will be having a bake sale in the parking lot. Please come show your support by purchasing some of their baked goods.

About SADD, Originally, the mission of the SADD chapter was to help young people say “No” to drinking and driving. Today, the mission has expanded. Students have told us that positive peer pressure, role modeling, and environmental strategies can prevent other destructive decisions and set a healthier, safer course for their lives. That is why SADD has become a peer-to-peer education, prevention, and activism organization dedicated to preventing destructive decisions. Because vehicle crashes are still the #1 killer of teens, our primary focus remains on traffic safety. However, we know the array of other issues our teens face have the potential to affect driving behavior and so we are committed to providing tools and prevention strategies that also address substance abuse and personal health and safety Please visit www.sadd.org for more imformation on the SADD program.
