LOCATION: 15th Street / Ave E, Yucaipa
SUSPECT(S): Brian Benitez, 31 years old, resident of San Bernardino
Julio Espino, 28 years old, resident of San Bernardino
SUMMARY:
On October 20, 2018 at 10:06 p.m. patrol deputies located a stolen vehicle parked on 15th St., north of E Ave. in the City of Yucaipa. The vehicle, a black Honda Civic, was reported stolen out of Moreno Valley. Deputies located Brian Benitez standing near the vehicle and Julio Espino walking nearby. Both were found to have warrants for their arrest and Benitez was found to be on felony probation for prior vehicle theft charges.
Benitez was found to be in possession of multiple shaved keys, commonly used to enter and steal vehicles. Additional shaved keys were found near where deputies first observed Espino. Investigation revealed the abandoned stolen vehicle was out of gas and the suspects appeared to be looking for another vehicle to steal. Both suspects are from San Bernardino and have no known ties to the Yucaipa area. Both were arrested and booked at Central Detention Center on multiple charges.
