DETAILS: At 8:50 pm, Patrol Units were detailed to Clarksville Road at the Windsor Athletic Center on a Serious Motor Vehicle Collision involving a Pedestrian. The following was determined: the Pedestrian, a 14 year old male, had been running (east to west) from Raven Boulevard in the Princeton Terrace Apartments toward the WAC and across Clarksville Road. A 2011 Acura MDX, operated by a 40 year old male who was traveling with his (2) children, was traveling Southbound on Clarksville Road and approaching the entrance to the WAC. Another vehicle was traveling Northbound on Clarksville Road approaching Raven Boulevard and was readying for a right turn into the Princeton Terrace Apartment Complex. The Pedestrian was struck by the Acura in the Southbound lane of Clarksville Road. Although there was a crosswalk & Pedestrian fully functional Pedestrian Crossing Signal designated for persons wanting to cross Clarksville Road, neither was used by the Pedestrian. In addition, the Pedestrian was wearing a beige sweatshirt and black pants at the time.
The 14 year old sustained serious injuries. Members of WWPD, Station #45 and MICU attended to the victim at the scene. Station #45 transported the 14 year old to the Capital Health Regional Medical Center with serious, non-life threatening injuries to his head/face/shoulder/torso areas.
The WWPD Traffic, Detective & Administration Divisions, and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office SCRT responded to the scene. Traffic Officer F. LaTorre #568 WWPD is the lead investigator into the collision. The incident remains under investigation and no charges have been filed.
