Petty Theft
Location: 400 Block of El Camino Real
Santa Clara University campus security observed two male suspects cutting a bicycle lock on the 400 block of El Camino Real and pedaling away. Officers arrived on scene and detained the suspects who matched the description provided to Public Safety Dispatchers. Both suspects were placed under arrest. Officers recovered the bicycle and campus security was able to identify the owner.

Monday, October 8, 2018
Assault with a Deadly Weapon
Location: De La Cruz Boulevard and Martin Avenue
On 10/07/2018, at approximately 2355 hours, an officer took an informational report regarding a female victim at De La Cruz Boulevard and Martin Avenue. The victim stated she was struck by a vehicle, but was unable to describe the vehicle or provide any suspect information. The victim was transported to a local hospital.
On 10/08/2018, at approximately 0759 hours, officers were dispatched to a disturbance involving a male and female on the 5200 block of Great America Parkway. Investigation determined that on 10/07/2018, the male suspect and his girlfriend (victim) got into an argument. The suspect intentionally accelerated his vehicle towards the victim, struck her and fled the scene. The victim fell to the ground and was knocked unconscious. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

NOTE: There were six (6) vehicle burglaries reported during swing shift (1500-0200 hours). Three of the burglaries occurred on the 3100 block of Stevens Creek Boulevard and the other burglaries took place on the 700 block of Lawrence Expressway and 3500 block of Monroe Street. There was no suspect information in the thefts.
SCPD reminds residents to take the following precautions to reduce your risk of being a victim of a car break-in:
• Lock your vehicle
• Never leave valuables in plain sight (e.g. purse, cell phone, laptop, backpack/gym bag, GPS, etc.)

Driving Under the Influence
Location: Saratoga Avenue and San Tomas Expressway
An officer responded to a collision at the intersection of Saratoga Avenue and San Tomas Expressway. Upon arrival, the reporting party advised the officer that a vehicle collided into unoccupied parked vehicles. The female driver and solo occupant of the vehicle that struck the parked cars remained in the driver’s seat of her vehicle.
The officer had the driver perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and a preliminary alcohol screening. Her blood alcohol content measured 0.17 and 0.13. She was taken into custody and booked at the Santa Clara County Jail.

Attempted Suicide
Location: Lawrence Expressway and El Camino Real
Officers responded to Lawrence Expressway and El Camino Real following a report of a female subject climbing the overpass fence.
Upon arrival, officers observed the female on the ledge of the overpass hanging on the barrier fence. The female willingly complied with officer’s instructions and climbed down from the overpass fence.
She admitted to having suicidal thoughts and was placed on a 72-hour hold before being transported to a local hospital.

Drug Arrest
Location: 3100 Block of De La Cruz Boulevard
An officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop on the 3100 Block of De La Cruz Boulevard after observing a vehicle with no front license plate and expired registration. A Records check revealed the male driver’s license was suspended. An inventory search of the vehicle yielded drug paraphernalia. The suspect received a Notice to Appear Citation and his vehicle was impounded with a 30-day hold.

Traffic Accident - Minor Injury
Location: San Tomas Expressway and Walsh Avenue
Officers were dispatched to a report of a vehicle crash at San Tomas Expressway and Walsh Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found a vehicle had struck and knocked down a light pole. The driver was injured and transported to a local hospital.

NOTE: There were four (4) residential burglaries reported during day shift (0800-0500). Two of the burglaries occurred on the 100 block of Saratoga Avenue, one on the 3600 block of Buckley Street and another on the 2400 block of Pilot Knob Drive.

SCPD offers the following prevention tips:
• Always lock your doors and windows when you leave the residence or before bed
• Keep your garage doors closed and locked
• Lock your garden shed and store large items (e.g. lawn mowers, barbecues, bicycles, etc.) out of sight
• Maintain your property in a manner that does not allow burglars easy access (e.g. trim bushes and trees, eliminate hiding places, install outdoor lighting, etc.)
• Leave lights on when you go out. If you are going to be away for a length of time, connect some lamps to automatic timers to turn them on in the evening and off during the day
• Sliding glass doors are vulnerable. Special locks are available for better security
• If you have an alarm system, use it
• Inform family and neighbors if you are going to be on vacation for an extended time period and provide them with your contact information in an emergency. Arrange for someone to pick up mail, newspapers, door hangers, etc.
• Be alert to suspicious persons and activities in your neighborhood. Report suspicious activity by calling the non-emergency phone line, 408-615-5580
• Form and participate in your Neighborhood Watch Program. For information about how to start a Neighborhood Watch Program, call 408-615-4872
• Make a complete list of your valuables, including make, model, serial number and description. Keep this list in a secure location. This information is required to return stolen property to its rightful owner

Missing Person - At-Risk
3000 Block of El Camino Real
Officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of El Camino Real regarding a missing at-risk adult.

The 80-year old male suffered from dementia and had been missing for approximately one hour at the time of the call to police. The patrol division located the missing person at Pruneridge Avenue and Tantau Road.
