OCTOBER 18TH - GREAT CALIFORNIA SHAKEOUT

This Thursday, October 18th, is the Great California Shake-Out. This is the 10th anniversary of the Shake-Out, which began in Southern California and is designed to increase earthquake preparedness and awareness. Over 9.5 million people are expected to participate in this year’s Shake-out.

As part of the Shake-Out, we will be testing the Contra Costa County Community Warning System (CWS). In an emergency, one of the primary notification systems is CWS, in addition to Nixle.

Sign up today for the CWS, which is recognized as one of the nation’s most modern and effective all-hazard public warning systems. CWS is designed to deliver time-sensitive and potentially life-saving information to Contra Costa County residents. The CWS Telephone Emergency Notification System is a computerized system that makes telephone calls to the known telephone numbers in the vicinity of a hazard, based on incident-specific issues, and would be used to warn of an incident in Moraga. The Town has predefined zones to only warn affected areas in an emergency. To register, please visit CWS Alerts at cwsalerts.com.
