Two Arrested at Sunnyvale Gas Station Using a Skimming Device

Sunnyvale, CA - On 10/11/2018 at approximately 2359 hours DPS responded to a report of two suspects tampering with a gas pump at World Gas Station located on W. Maude Ave. Officers arrived on scene within two minutes, locating the two suspects who were detained. It was determined the two suspects were tampering with the gas pump and applying electronic skimming equipment. The suspects were arrested and transported to DPS headquarters where investigators are following up on the case. The arrested suspects are identified as Artashes Gasparyan (10/22/1990) of Glendale, CA and Richard Matthew Hernandez (10/11/1986) of Rialto, CA.

Officers located the suspect vehicle nearby which was taken as evidence. Evidence from the scene and the vehicle is being reviewed by investigators to determine the full-extent of their criminal activity. The suspects were transported to the Santa Clara County Jail on charges of conspiracy - 182 PC, possession of burglary tools - 466 PC, unauthorized computer access - 502(c)(1) PC and possession of a skimming device - 502.6(a) PC.
