Narrative:
On 10/10/2018, a Camarillo resident received a phone call from an unknown male subject claiming to be a Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputy. The suspect told the victim she had a warrant and needed to call (844) 335-1152 to clear the warrant.
The victim called the number given and a male subject with a “Hispanic accent” answered. The male subject identified himself as “David Williams” and told the victim he worked for U.S. Financial. Williams told the victim to go to CVS or Vons and purchase a “Google Pay Card” for $500.00. The victim was told by a CVS employee that the call was fraudulent and did not complete the transaction.
There have been multiple similar incidents reported within Ventura County over the last few months. Please do not become a victim of these scams and notify local law enforcement of any suspicious activity.
