Advisory

Flood Warning until 11:30PM

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has extended the

* Flood Warning for... Central Henderson County in western North Carolina...

* Until 1130 PM EDT Thursday.

* At 517 PM EDT, area streams and associated tributaries remain elevated from earlier heavy rainfall associated with Tropical Storm Michael and flooding continues across central Henderson County. Bat Fork Creek remains above Minor Flood Stage and Minor Flooding continues from Flat Rock to Hendersonville to Mountain Home. Mud Creek and Cane Creek have just fallen below Action/Advisory stage and will continue to decline through the evening.

* Minor Flooding is flooding of low-lying areas adjacent to streams. These areas include greenways, parks, farmland, low-water crossings, and a few secondary roads. Please avoid streams, adjacent areas, and barricaded roads until the high flows have fully receded and the barricades have been removed.

* Some locations that are continuing to experience flooding include... Hendersonville, Flat Rock, Mountain Home, Laurel Park, Valley Hill, Dana, Gerton, Edneyville, Crab Creek and East Flat Rock.

* AFFECTED AREAS: HENDERSON, NC

Instructions:

Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Do not attempt to cross water-covered roadways, bridges, or low-level crossings. Only a few inches of rapidly flowing water can carry away your vehicle. It is not worth the risk. Please TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN. Please pay close attention to road signs indicating a flood-prone area. Obey all barricades, even if water is not currently over the road. After an event road crews need to assess the road to ensure road stability and safety. Barricades are in place for your protection.
