Elder abuse investigation leads to the arrest of Robert Benitez of Adelanto.

LOCATION: 11200 block of La Habra, in Adelanto
SUSPECT: Robert Angelo Benitez, 36-year-old, Resident of Adelanto
VICTIM: Female adult, 74-year-old, Resident of Adelanto
SUMMARY:
On Tuesday, October 9, 2018, deputies received a report of an elderly female who had been assaulted. According to a witness, she saw the female victim inside an apartment complex in the 11200 block of La Habra in Adelanto and noticed the female had multiple bruises on her face.
Through the investigation, Deputy W. Fifita learned the 74-year-old female victim and her roommate, 36-year-old Roberto Angelo Benitez, had a verbal argument on Sunday, October 7, 2018, at approximately 4:00pm. The victim told the deputy the argument escalated, and Benitez hit her in her face and head. The victim had visible bruising to the areas she was struck.
Deputy Fifita contacted Benitez and arrested and booked him at High Desert Detention Center for Elder Abuse. Benitez bail was set at $50,000.00.
