Deceased man found in Kenwood creek bed Sunday identified

The deceased man found in a dry creek bed in Kenwood on Sunday has been identified as Aaron Winokur, a 51 year old man from Napa. His cause of death has not been determined but his death is not deemed suspicious at this time.

Our condolences go out to his family and friends.

A man’s body was found in a Kenwood dried creek bed on Sunday morning. The Sheriff’s Office received a call shortly before 10:00 AM from residents in the area of Griswold and Highway 12 reporting they had found the body. Sheriff’s Deputies responded and found the man’s body lying on his back fully clothed. He was in an advanced state of decomposition and appeared to have been there for some time.

Initially detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit and the Crime Scene Investigations Unit were called to the scene in case of foul play. Detectives from the Coroner’s Office removed the body and brought it to the morgue for a postmortem examination. During the examination the Forensic Pathologist found no signs that the man had been killed. The cause of death at this time is undetermined and pending toxicology results.

The man’s identity hasn’t been confirmed yet and next of kin has not been notified.
