The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Flood Advisory for... Northeastern McDowell County in western North Carolina... Northwestern Caldwell County in western North Carolina... Southeastern Avery County in western North Carolina... Northwestern Burke County in western North Carolina...

* Until 200 PM EDT.

* At 1059 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated that anywhere from 1 to locally as much as 3 inches of rain had fallen this morning across the advised area. Locally heavy showers are expected to continue to develop and move into the region this afternoon. Expect stream levels to continue to rise all throughout the headwaters of the upper Catawba basin, including the Johns and Linville Rivers, Wilson Creek and the North Fork Catawba. heavy rain which will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Marion, Blowing Rock In Caldwell County, Lake James State Park, Table Rock, Lake James, Nebo, Edgemont, Collettsville, Ashford and Jonas Ridge.

* AFFECTED AREAS: AVERY, NC ... CALDWELL, NC ... MCDOWELL, NC ... BURKE, NC
