Recovered San Jose Police Department Patrol Vehicle

This morning San Jose police were conducting an investigation, when suspect Andrew Trujillo (See attached) stole a San Jose police car. The police car was located a short time later here in Hayward. Our officers assisted San Jose Police look for Trujillo, however he was not located. We are thankful no one in our community was injured during this incident. We also want to thank everyone for your continued support and patience, while this search was being conducted.

On Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at about 5:23 AM, San Jose police officers were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle in the 0-100 block of Holger Way in San Jose. The reporting party stated a GPS in a stolen semi-truck showed the truck was stationary on Holger Way. Arriving officers located an adult male in the truck's cab and took him into custody. Officers placed the handcuffed suspect in the back caged area of a patrol car and continued their investigation. Somehow, the suspect escaped and fled in the police car. Officers located the stolen police car in the 23000 block of Clawiter Rd. in the City of Hayward. The police car's weapons are accounted for.

Officers are trying to locate the suspect Andrew Trujillo (photo attached). The suspect is a 40 year-old, Hispanic male, 5'-11", 215 lbs, black hair, brown eyes, wearing an orange Campbell Towing shirt with reflective stripes, blue jeans and grey shoes.
