Subject: Minor Decoy Sting
Location: Cities of Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach & El Segundo
On September 21, 2018, the Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and El Segundo Police Departments conducted a minor decoy sting throughout the three cities. A decoy was sent into 18 on-sale establishments within the three cities in an attempt to purchase alcoholic beverages. Sixteen establishments were successful in preventing this activity and two establishments were cited for furnishing alcohol to a minor. A decoy was also sent into 34 off-sale establishments within the three cities in an attempt to purchase alcoholic beverages. Thirty-two establishments were successful in preventing this activity and two establishments were cited for furnishing alcohol to a minor.
Employees working in the following establishments were cited for providing alcoholic beverages to a minor:
- Chevron (3633 N. Sepulveda Blvd., Manhattan Beach)
- Ercoles (1101 N. Manhattan Ave., Manhattan Beach)
- Green Store (2151 Hermosa Ave., Hermosa Beach)
- Office Downtown (206 E. Grand Ave., El Segundo)
Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, El Segundo Police Officers and ABC Investigators have partnered to provide training to ABC licensed establishments, conduct briefing training to patrol officers, and conduct inspections and sting operations to determine if licensed establishments are abiding by state laws and local operating permits.

We expect the results of this minor decoy sting to provide a better understanding of the need to comply with alcohol related laws and regulations, which will enhance the safety of our citizens and protect the quality of life that exists in our communities.
