After the vehicle was entered into the National Crime Information Center database as “Stolen”, this agency received notification from the Essex County Sheriff’s Office that they had the stolen Toyota stopped. The car was being driven by Danny Bryant who tried to elude police and was subsequently arrested. Bryant was also in possession of a set of Mazda car keys that had a West Windsor dog license on the ring. Using the dog license number, the owner of the keys was identified. Officers went to speak with the second victim and determined the following: The victim said that he lost his car keys somewhere in the train station parking lot. When he returned to his gray 2011 Mazda, he observed that his vehicle had been moved to another space in the lot. The interior had also been ransacked, he was missing a bag containing his sneakers, and someone had left a backpack inside his car.
Det. J. Jones conducted a follow up investigation which revealed the following; Bryant driving the victims gray Mazda and having difficulty doing so, likely because it had a manual transmission. Bryant then parked and abandoned the Mazda, and was then observed going to different parked cars and checking the doors. A short time later, the first victims Toyota was observed to be backing out of a parking space and leaving the train station. Bryant remains in custody at the Essex County Jail.
